Big Lots Recalls Floor Lamps
Recalled lamps use standard incandescent or compact fluorescent lightbulbs and have labels marked with the model number G-1843-5 affixed to the underside of the lamp base. Lamps that use candelabra bulbs are not subject to this recall and can be identified by labels marked with the model number G-1844-5B and SKU numbers 612009036 or 612009037 in the instructions. The lamps stand about 5 feet tall and have a gunmetal or chrome-colored metal pole and five adjustable lights mounted on flexible metal tubes at the top. The lamps can be further identified by SKU numbers 612007239, 612007829 or 612008982 at the beginning of the instructions.Camouflage Your Speakers as Floor Lamps
If you're not too keen on the idea of speaker stands and speakers next to your couch or as part of your bedroom decor, this clever hack disguises them as floor lamps. Add in a few LED lights around the speaker wires to the old pull switch on the lamp and you've got camouflaged speakers you can actually read by. Have a clever tip, trick, or hack for concealing your audio-video gear. Over at the DIY and tinkering blog We Live Like This, they were looking for a creative way to integrate speakers into their bedroom without it looking like they had big speaker stands hanging out next to the bed. While we're impressed with their recycling and ingenuity, from an ease of use and audio-quality standpoint, we think we'd just use some lightweight cube speakers and mount them to the socket instead of building our own speakers from cast off parts.
